How the workflow works

Upload your PDF. Upload the PDF you want to review and redact in the browser-based workspace.
Mark sensitive content. Select text, search matches, rectangles, full pages, or page removals for permanent redaction.
Apply redactions with metadata sanitization. Generate a redacted output PDF with metadata, links, annotations, and embedded file cleanup enabled by default.
Review and download the result. Download the redacted PDF and verify the final output before sharing it externally.

Security model published on this site

Each upload gets a unique file ID and access token that are required for previews, search, redaction, download, and deletion requests.
The original upload is queued for deletion after redaction completes, and the generated output is queued for deletion after download.
Temporary files older than about one hour are cleaned up during routine maintenance if a session is abandoned.
Metadata sanitization is enabled by default and clears document metadata, XML metadata, non-redaction annotations, links, and embedded files from the exported PDF.

Review the exported PDF page by page before distributing it externally.
Confirm that all intended text, shapes, and pages were permanently redacted.
Use the privacy and legal pages as part of your own internal review for sensitive workflows.

How do I redact a PDF online? Upload your PDF, mark the text or areas you want removed, apply permanent redactions, and download the redacted file.
Does JustRedactPDF permanently remove sensitive information? Yes. The redaction workflow is designed to remove selected content from the exported PDF rather than only covering it visually.
Can JustRedactPDF sanitize metadata and hidden data? Yes. Metadata sanitization is enabled by default and is intended to remove document metadata, XML metadata, links, non-redaction annotations, and embedded files from the output PDF.
Can I redact a PDF without Adobe Acrobat? Yes. JustRedactPDF runs in the browser, so you can redact PDFs online without installing Adobe Acrobat.
When is my original upload deleted? After redactions are applied successfully, the original upload is queued for deletion because it is no longer needed to generate the final file.
When is the redacted output deleted? The processed output is queued for deletion after download, and abandoned temporary files are cleaned up during routine maintenance if they age out.
What kinds of PDFs is this tool useful for? It is useful for contracts, legal filings, HR documents, invoices, bank statements, medical records, and other PDFs that contain confidential information.
Should I still review the exported PDF manually? Yes. You should always review the exported file before relying on it, especially for legal, financial, medical, or regulatory workflows.
